Ca’ del Vento Loop
(CAI Trail 614)

This is the great classic of the area. A loop trail that offers breathtaking views over the plains and the first peaks of the Apennines.

  • On foot: Perfect for a half-day hike.
  • By MTB: A fun route, but it requires a basic level of fitness due to the steady climbs.
  • Don’t miss: The passages through the badlands and hillside vineyards.

Borzano Castle Trail

A dive into local history. The trail climbs toward the ruins of the ancient castle perched on a rocky outcrop.

  • On foot: Ideal for families and those looking for a panoramic, moderate walk.
  • By MTB: Rideable, but it is best to cover the final stretch near the ruins on foot.

Lodola Stream Valley Variant

The itinerary for those seeking the wilder, less-traveled side of our hills.

  • On foot: A hike immersed in the woods, cool even during the hottest months.
  • By MTB: Recommended for experienced cyclists only (some sections can be technical or muddy after rainfall).

La Tana della Mussina and the Messinian Gypsum

A geological route to discover the famous local gypsum formations and the “Mussina” karst cave, a site of major archaeological discoveries.

  • On foot: A short and educational hike, excellent for groups and nature photography enthusiasts.

ℹ️ Useful Information for Guests

  • Starting Point: All trails are easily accessible on foot starting directly from our property or from the nearby Piazzale Ludovico Ariosto in Borzano.
  • Trail Signs: Follow the red-and-white CAI trail markers. Hiking shoes and carrying a water supply are always highly recommended.
  • Seasonality: The hills are beautiful all year round. Autumn offers the stunning foliage of the vineyards, while spring brings wild blooms across the ridge meadows.

Tip for cyclists: Many of the dirt ridge roads (Colombaia area) are interconnected. You can easily design your own custom route by connecting the various secondary paths!
